Aettis translates as ‘Grandpa’ in German and is a raw milk cow’s cheese. Firm in texture with a nutty, buttery and sweet flavour.

The cheese is labelled with the date 1874 which is the first year of production for the cheesemakers, Jumi, who have been producing incredible cheeses for five generations. They are well-known for their excellent fondue-style cheeses. 

This is a classic Swiss alpine cheese with similarities to the favourites such as Comte and Beaufort. Eaten at breakfast time in Switzerland with fresh bread, meats and jam. We enjoy it grated over buttery, pan-fried mushrooms on toasted sourdough.
