Old Roan Wensleydale

£4.10 per 100g

This is an old-fashioned Wensleydale cheese: not quite as crumbly as its modern relations, with a fresh, sharp yet light flavour and supple creamy texture. There are many Wensleydales out there but this has to be one of our personal favourites with all the characteristics you’d expect from a classic Dales cheese.

Old Roan Wensleydale is made in the old-fashioned style, with a fresh, sharp, yet light flavour with a supple creamy texture.

Ben and Sam Spence decided to reintroduce the cheese in July 2019 after production of this Wensleydale recipe stopped in 1957.

Made from the herd of 100 Friesian cows who graze outdoors from spring through to autumn and are milked on the farm in Aysgarth, Wensleydale every day.

This delicious classic is best enjoyed with classic onion chutney and crusty bread.

Please note all cheeses are hand-cut, therefore the weights listed are approximate. We work very hard to cut them as accurately as we can!
