Vacherousse d’Argental is a delightfully smooth, creamy French cheese, made from fresh cow’s milk produced in the Lyonnais region of France.

The rind of the cheese is first washed with brine and annatto and is then matured for a minimum of 2 weeks. During this time the exterior develops an red, orange and white mottled mould. This is how the cheese gets its name, “Vacherousse”, meaning “Red Cow” in French.

The cheese itself is very creamy with a texture of thick clotted cream and has a fresh lively flavour. It is ideal with fresh fruit and sweet preserves, but also with savoury crackers for a satisfying crunch. Pair with a glass of fruity Riesling.

Please note all cheeses are hand cut, therefore the weights listed are approximate. We work very hard to cut them as accurately as we can!

Allergen advice – This product contains Annatto.
