Cote Hill Red cheese is hand made on Cote Hill Farm by Michael & Mary and their sons Joe & Ross, with milk from their 80 pedigree cows. MICHAEL & MARY DAVENPORT have been farming at Cote Hill Farm, Osgodby, in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds for over 30 years. They started making cheese in October 2005 using milk produced by their herd of Friesian, Holstein and Red Poll cows.
From the very beginning, cheese made at Cote Hill Farm has been served to guests at Lords Cricket Ground and praised and enjoyed by celebrity chefs including The Hairy Bikers. If you ask them what the secret of their success is they will tell you that great tasting cheese comes from delicious milk which in turn comes from the clover rich pastures that the cows graze on throughout the year.
Cote Hill Red is a young, semi-firm Gouda style cheese with a creamy, buttery, smooth texture and a nutty sweetness on the palate. Coated in a distinctive red wax which ensures the cheese inside stays perfect while it matures. Cote Hill Red is delicious on a frittata with some spicy chorizo.
Please note all cheeses are hand-cut, therefore the weights listed are approximate. We work very hard to cut them as accurately as we can!
