Blacksticks Blue comes from the award winning Butlers’ Inglewhite Dairy in Lancashire. “Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses is a true family business. Blacksticks Blue is the ‘original’ modern day blue cheese made in the traditional way, with the use of open vats and being turned by hand. The cheese is matured for eight weeks which allows it to develop its distinct colour and texture. Blacksticks Blue is a golden hued blue veined cheese with a creamy texture and a buttery distinctive bite made from pasteurised milk taken from the farms’ pedigree herd. The moderate blue in the cheese is not overpowering and will convert any who do not like blue cheeses. It has a moist dark exterior which contrasts nicely with the vibrant orange body of the cheese. The orange colour of the cheese is obtained by the use of Annatto which is a natural product of a South American shrub.
